About

This blog is meant to be a platform for posting musical treasures discovered on my ride through cyberspace. I will mostly move within the borders of psychedelic trance/goa and chill out/ambient, of course being aware that definition of music is not something written in stone, genres fluctuate and a "true" definition of a genre can never exist. Also, taste is personal, in my case something I developed through my many years of experiencing this type of music.

I will try to balance my posts between sharing new dj-sets/albums and songs by both already appreciated musical wizards and new talents being able to share their vision for free. I will also devote a number of posts to other things connected to the psy-scene such as festivals/blogs/label-news. Important to know is that I will be very selective and only post about stuff that really catches my ears or is highly interesting in some other aspect. For me it is all about quality and creativity being involved and what I connect to these terms.

This blog will also attempt to inspire people to (re-)discover their passion for the art of music and create their own interest/knowledge. Through learning more about the musicians/DJs/organizers and labels, one can build a stronger tie to the culture, a culture which was initially formed around particular sounds and energies and the joy of dancing to something you really love. I wish to return the focus on what I see as important for this culture, so it yet again can become deeply rooted and flourishing, instead of shallow and superficial.

My first contact with electronic music came in the late 80´s/early 90´s (acid/dance/tekkno). I went to my first rave parties when trance and hardtrance was the bomb (with labels like MFS, Harthouse and Labworks), and got really addicted when goa almost completely ruled the dancefloors (95 - 98). Got my first turntables in 98´and started playing as parties as well as organizing them. To hear my mixes and music head over to my website www.matt-in-orbit.com. Otherwise just stick around and let´s share our love for the music. Be happy, loving and content, and remember - in the words of Bill Hicks - life is just a ride.
