I really really love this album. The music is filled with so much emotion, and I love how it doesn´t scream for attention, it is just there as a companion through the day. It is gentle, like a soft stroke on your senses. It also inspires me to be creative, to sit down in my on space and just make music forever. And I am forever grateful to musicians like Danny Howe sharing their gift with the rest of us.

Hoodwink - EXP

Wildthing Records has just released a new compilation entitled Nocturnal Network. It features high-quality music by artists part of the roster, such as E.V.P, Neutral Motion, Archaic and Southwild. If you listened to this label before you know what to expect; fast intense, rhythmic, weird, twisted psytrance. It is a very good release, and this label is quickly becoming one of my absolute favourites. Also on the compilation is the following track by Hoodwink.

Hoodwink is Kelton Jones from Manchester, the UK and he has been a producer of psy-trance  for a number of years now. His style strives to cover the domain of night whilst still maintaining a positive feeling, thus pulling people towards the speakers, but still retaining an edgy attitude. At the same time keeping a groovy aspect makes his muscic great for the daytime too. He has released 2 Albums with the Label, ”Audio Illusion” and “Sound Mirror”, and he is playing internationally on a regular basis.

Spiky @ Tangra Festival, Bulgaria 2013

A very nice chill-mix put together by Spiky a k a Spiros Tseronis from Mannheim, Germany. It is a live-recording from his set at beautiful Tangra Festival taking place in Bulgaria around midsummer 2013.

Spiky is a  musician,producer and Psybient DJ part of Ajnavision Records who, and since his very young age has been always enchanted by music. As a child he learned to play the accordion, which later changed to piano and synthesizers. In the 90´s he organized parties in his homecity Mannheim and Athens with his friends. Spikys first Liveact was in 1998, only with a Quasimidi Raven synthesizer. In 2000-2004 he worked on a tv broadcast company as an audio-technician and learned all the hidden tricks with the use of machinery and equipment for the recording, mixing and reproduction of sounds including electronics, acoustics, psychoacoustics, and music. With all this input Spiky built his own homestudio. The past years Spiky travelled all over the world on all kind of indoor clubs and underground outdoor gatherings and festivals, inspired by different styles of electronic music! After discovering computer based music production and trying himself in different compositions from beatless ambient music to dirty ass-kicking techno, he began writing tech & house tunes as Spiky and produced 2009 on Diaphan label his first track called “Forest Trees”.

Delirium Of Disorder - Fresh Soil

This new deep twisted psychedelic track appears on the Revolve Magazine Summer 2013 compilation. This is one of those tracks that just goes on and on with no unnecessary breaks, very intense with patterns that won´t leave you alone. It is not super-hard but very trancy, and with a certain rhythmic sound that makes it stick out. Filled with quirks and wobbly sounds that makes it highly enjoyable, it also moves somewhere; there is enough different parts to keep the listener entertained.

Delirium of Disorder is Alex Warrick, originally from San Diego, US, but having lived in London for the last fifteen years, and the last year in Turkey. He started DJing under the name DeepBrianFromBosis in 2005, at the same time trying to learn analogue hardware, and later music-making on a computer, in 2008 building towards a live set. Alex currently creates forest and dark tracks between 148 - 180 bpm, very atmospheric, dark and danceable. Upcoming releases is on Purple Hexagon Records, and also a track with Arjuna soon to be released.

Mr Peculiar - Ritual

I´ve been a big fan of Mr Peculiar (Dustin Bint) since his psy-trance album Mind - Dala was released in 2005, (although I found his last cd-release on Hadra somewhat cheezy). His latest three releases are only available for download through his bandcamp. This album, entitled Ritual was released in June 2013, and is the first full-length chill album from this Australian musician. We are treated with 9 songs following the same formula - a dubby electronic vibe (sometimes bordering to lounge), nice melodies, quite a lot of singing (in what appears to be languages from the middle-eastern / asian part of the world) - but also a lot of atmosphere with floating pads and nice effectual sound-creations. Second song Sunrize quickly became on my favourites, with not too heavy dubby beats, nice pads, a floating flute and some beautiful vocals; also you are not too far from some quirky psychedelic sounds and melodies.

Song no.4 Moonbeams is a more groovy, loungy number - also with nice vocals and a very nice melodic part; I especially like the vocals in the end, intensifying and rooting the song. Next song Buddha Bounce starts out with a heavy dubby feel, a lot of rhythmic parts and even some nice acoustic elements. Closer to the end comes a part with a nice sitar-like instrument, and adding some more rhytms, closing it up with some vocals and a proper reggae vibe - electronic style. Listening to song no.8 Around the World, you can´t help but be reminded about a lot of what Shpongle does, it obviously has a smell of the work of Posford and Ram, build-up, vocal parts and also the increased tempo towards the end turning it into dance-explosion. Mr Peculiar finishes off this enjoyable ride with Wormholes, ending on a brighter, lighter side of chill, letting the listener floating towards the centre. All in all a very nice album, following a red thread never confusing the listener; and for 5 Euro it is a definite value for your money. Cheers, Dustin.

Illustrator - Carnaval Designer

This new track by Illustrator appears on the new compilation from Purple Hexagon records entitled Quantum Animism. It is a hard, intense ride filled with quirky sound-effects and chewing sounds, topped with alienated patterns.

Illustrator is the solo project of Karim Khadiri from Casablanca (Morocco). His interest in Psytrance came while becoming part of the psy scene in Morocco during parties in 2004. In 2007 he started DJing, and simultaneously meeting other likeminded musicians prompted Karim to start his own journey through producing his own music and that’s when the Illustrator project was born. Illustrator is part of the Psynon Records roster and has recently released a 3-track EP available for free download HERE.

Hotep - Muddy Path

Nice driving psytrance with goa influences. Very little breaks. It just tramples on like a freight-train. Very nice jumping sounds and hits. I like it. This song appears on Mysteries of Psytrance Vol.3 released by Ovnimoon Records.

Hotep is Stjepan Hojan, a 24 years old psytrance producer from Croatia. His interest in music begun in 2003 while playing the keyboard in a band. As he discovered psytrance music, he got involved with the psychedelic scene. In 2009 he starts producing his own music, blending psychedelic trance with goa trance elements and constantly evolving with new ideas and sounds. He is connected to Digital Yonkis as well as having released loads of stuff on other labels.

Tangra Eco Art Festival Showcase 13: IooN - Cosmic Downtempo

Presenting another chill-out act playing at this great festival. IooN is Johnny from Rishikesh India. He was born in 1984 (or landed on this planet as he puts it) and is signed to Psyderweb Records.

From 2000 on,  IooN got fascinated by the Chill Out side of parties, because he felt this kind of music has the heaviest load of mysticism and can put you into a dreamy trancey state in a different way than average psytrance. Thus, he started crafting his very-own form of music,a deep tribal experience, evocation of feelings, releasing“The IooNfinite Loop EP” in winter 2013 into Ektoplazm with Psyderweb Records (NL). In 2013 IooN started throwing his own events such as Spiritual Sundays,focused on Ambient/Downtempo style, developing two new parallel line of sounds,one targeted and inspired by yoga practice that follows him thru the years, and working on space ambient music creating "Totally open Randomness".

Ioon describes his style as " a slow paced progression to a inner peaceful dimension. It’s all about the combination of strong dancey beats along with smooth, deep, evocative ambient textures,ethnic elements and soulful warm melodies".

DJ Aquarius is Ilker, born in 1976 based in Hamburg, northern Germany. He had his first contact with electronic music in 1990, listening to Tekkno, AcidTrance and House. In 1993 he first experienced psy-trance. He started DJing Chillout music in 2004. 

Since then he has played at various chillouts and ambient garden's around Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland and here & there in Europe. He loves to play Psychedelic Chill, Dub, Glitch, IDM, DubStep, Electronica, Ambient & Downbeat, but also experimental Ethno stuff with turkish and oriental influences. Tangra Eco Art Festival Showcase 10: Dj Organica

Tangra Festival, taking place in Bulgaria is closing in. Less than a month to go and I continue my showcasing if interesting artists performing at the festival. Next stop is Dj Organica; Bruno Mendes from Lisbon, Portugal. This talented 31 year old discovered electronic dancemusic already in 1995 and is playing some really groovy psychedelic fullon.

He describes his sets as a "combination of many elements: deeply elastic, baggy-grooved stuff, that transports you to a dusty summer dancefloor, to more full-on darker sounds and structures, and filmic edged soundscapes". After discovering the psy-scene in Portugal he made the move to London where he lived for a few years and from there, with all the dazzling decors, quality djs and a truly electric atmosphere parties he became inspired, for unifying dance music. Nowdays he Dj ´s with Wooprz Records and Up!Noize Rec ... in order to create nice feel-good music that makes us feel good while simultaneously giving us messages that can expand our consciousness and free our beings from conditioning and illusion.

AuroraX is Desislav a DJ and producer from Bulgaria involved in electronic music for 12 years. He likes ambient and downbeat as a combination of strong synths, mellow pads and low freq-depths. Being signed for Sonic Loom Music he has played a lot festivals like Artmospheric, Beglika and Waha, and is this year performing at Tree of Life and Future Nature apart from Tangra Festival.

Lill´Li is a Danish DJ playing music that ranges from deep funky progressive to deep forest trance. She started DJing in 2006 inspired by such labels as Crotus Records and Zenon Records; now currently representing that label we can expect a lot of music influenced by that particular crunchy, quirky style!

Dark psychedelic progressive music have always been the foundation of her taste in music, and her sets range from 130 to 155 bpm. Travelling around the globe she has been playing at festivals and parties in counties like Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, United States, India, Russia, UK, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Lithuania, Sweden and ofcourse Denmark.

Jahbo is Roelike Bunzendahl from Denmark, signed to Parvati Records, and been with this label already from the beginning, helping to set its path releasing a very special blend of psychedelic night-time music. He was born in a hippie society in north of Denmark, working in a music store in his "real life". He has played all over the globe on festival and parties, sharing his "ideology of trippy twisted psytrance".

He  has appeared on many releases, mainly on Parvati Records as well as on other leading psytrance with his solo project Jahbo as well as with the different projects he is also doing, like the most recent appearance on latest Parvati CD, "No strings attached", with Mussy Moody forming Psilo Cowboys. He also one part of Abrahadabra releasing their much acclaimed debut-album last year.

One of the many great forest/darkpsy act playing at Tangra Festival is Hutti Heita from Norway. This group consists of Alf Marius Foss Olsen, Kim Svendsen and they are signed on Yggdrasil Records. Va - Wicked Gail´s Trail

This is a new compilation filled with great twisted psy and forest music. It contains 9 tracks by artists such as Yudhisthira, Soladria and Phobos Azazel. It is released on new label Forestdelic Records based in Slovenia.

I especially like track number 5 called New Day by Lacerta. It reminds me of Talpa and Ianuaria, two great artists, with crazy melodies and tweaked crunchy morning sounds. Lacerta, named after a green lizard with mystical powers, consists of Alexander Ala Kato Trufanov. Russia - Karelia and Andrew Okujah Averin. Ukraine - Crimea.

Tangra Eco Art Festival Showcase 5: Elastic Vision

We´re leaving April behind with another showcase from the artist roster of Tangra Festival taking place in Bulgaria around Summer Solstice in June. Elastic Vision is a dj from Cyprus representing Chakradelic Records, and he is doing a dj-set on mainfloor.

His style of music is a blend of harder psy, and more twisted crunchy forest style. He discovered electronic music in ´95 and started his turntable-journey in 2002. My bet is that we will see and hear him early morning with this kind of music, and I am really looking forward to grooving to his stuff.

Zoungla - Entwine

This song has already put itself at a special place in my heart, which I´m sure the whole album will after spending some time with it. This already feels like a special gem in music, created by an artist not afraid of doing his own thing; listening to his soul, instead of thinking of how the music shall sound.

Zoungla is Costa Damoulianos from Quebec, Canada. learning the piano already at the same age as learning the alphabet. As he grew older he went on to learn other instruments such a the bassguitar and drums, and at the age of 17 he attended Vanier Music School to learn jazz guitar. It was when his father introduced him to a tape mixer, that Costa first found his love for mixing and producing music and he quickly moved on to electronic composition. His influences can be traced to various styles of music such as Pink Floyd, Ott, Shpongle, Jeff Martin, Dream Theater, Argaman, Rush, Hans Zimmer, Pain of Salvation, Yanni, Devin Townsend and Koji Kondo. He describes his music as a blend of "ethnic sounds of the past with futuristic electronic tones, extremes from silly to sad, dark to bright, calm to intense and serious to fun."

Astropilot is Dmitriy Redko, from Kyiv, Ukraine. He is imo one of the best and well-known artists in the field of melodic downtempo/psy-chill with numerous releases to his name, including "Fruits Of The Imagination", "Solar Walk", "Here And Now", and "Star Walk". Freaky G - Shamanic Voices From Greenland

Presenting Freaky G - which is Kim Dueland from Silkeborg, Denmark. This is a nice mix blending hard psychedelic with forest sounds! The tracklist includes music from such artists as Mussy Moody, Sprocket, Therange Frek, Vertical and Petran.

Kim has lived in Silkeborg his entire life (born in 1982) where he enjoys nature and psychedelic music. He has been listening to electronic music since the age of 21 and started playing around with turntables 3 years later, favouring psytrance, progg and chill. He mostly 2- 3 hour sets of dark and forest trance, also representing triplag music.

Tangra Eco Art Festival Showcase 1: AODIOIBOA

Since I´m doing a chill-out set @ this festival set in Bulgaria, and been asked to help out with promotion I´ve decided to do an ongoing series of post about the artists playing there. First out is Aodioiboa from Germany doing a live-set. Andreas is also part of the decoproject called Cosmicwalkers, but in 2004 he also got into producing music. His music is a mixture of styles and he describes himself as a musician influenced by a lot of styles. For me it sounds like a symbiosis of dark/forest with more traditional melodic psytrance. Dust - My Friends Love Psychedelics (Looney Boom)

Dust returns from travelling around the world, to give us this follow-up to last years twisted adventures (I Don´t Like Psychedelics). This is an 11 track album, where he collaborates with favourites such as Assioma, Whiptongue, Southwild and Xpiral. Looking at that roster, I have no doubt in my mind that this album will be like candy for my ears.

More releases to look forward to the coming weeks are VA - Voice Control due out on Noize Conspiracy and including artists such as Drip Drop, Dissociative & Sorrowmurk, and Nomad 25. This can be a very nice listening-experience. But what I really look forward to is hearing the new release from Pixan Recordings called VA - In Blast We Trust, hopefully coming soon. With tracks from Dust, Archaic, Ajja and Kabayun, I´m sure us listeners dreaming our psychedelic dreams won´t be disappointed.

Terrafractyl Vs Launchpad - On The Flipside

This track is part of the latest compilation on Vertigo Records titled Compos Mentis EP. It follows Terrafractyl´s recent style, filled with quirkyness, craziness, and melodic blasts. But at the same time it is quite psychedelic and energetic. I love it! And, seriously, how can you not love a track that incorporates the melody from the X-Men Cartoon :)

Terrafractyl is Felix Greenlees from Melbourne, Australia. As a kid he listened to a lot of Classical, Opera and Jazz he eventually went on to play Bassoon in several professional orchestras around Australia. He has also played piano for most of his life, and when he heard psychedelic music in the late 90's, he instantly began to try his hand at putting some together himself. He has perormed at all of the major festivals in Australia, including Rainbow Serpent festival, Tribeadelic, Cairns Winter solstice, Dragon Dreaming Festival, and also at festivals for Vertigo records in Russia and Ukraine, and is soon leaving for a tour of India and South Africa. His Debut album was released on Sundance Records in April last year and He has released tracks on compilations for 5 labels around the world including Sundance, Vertigo, Adapted, Regen, and Psynuematix records. His second Terrafractyl Album'Electronic Evolution' was released on Vertigo Records, march 2012.

Abrahadabra - Yeti

Abrahadabra consists of 3 Danish dudes - Jahbo, Alrune and B8st Born, creating their music in the forests of Moesgaard, Aarhus. Their self-titled debut was released on Parvati Records late last year and is one hell of a crazy ride. I advice everyone into twisted, quirky forest sounds to buy this album

Except for the above my track my favourites are Palombini with an 8 bit feel to it, and using the melodies from C64 computer game Commando; Rubbermind - fast, rhythmic and free-flowing - for the early morning hours, and Maskinen - harder, chrunchier and more twisted - for the mind. Enjoy!

Elysium CD-Album Fund

Elysium aka Kristian Thinning Andersen is a Danish artist having a bunch of releases to his name. He released his first EP in 1994 but the real breakthrough came in 1995 when his album Dance For The Celestial Beings was released on Nova Zembla. I heard it for the first time at a friends place and instantly fell in love with it. I have returned to it again and again, never tiring, always fascinating with the simple yet deep and layered sound-scape that was created by Elysium. And I´m now a proud owner of the vinyl-release :)

The follow-up came called Celestial Sounds And Neurotic Tribal Beats was released 2 years later, and albeit not such a classic in my opinion is an album well worth listening to again and again. 

So why all this rambling about old goatrance?

Well, Kristian has decided to make a Dance For The Celestial Beings part II, releasing it in high-quality on physical cds. However he needs our help to gather the money to make this happen. He is gonna make a limeted 300 copies release and need about 2.000 dollars to do so. Sibren Vegter - Morning Vibes

Vertigo Records Label News

Russian label, Vertigo Records is currently one of my favorite psy-labels, and has a lot of new stuff brewing at the moment. It was founded in Moscow, Russia in 2004 by DJ Nowhereman, "in order to unfold and preserve a very special type of psychoactive music: the sort of music that gives us all a feeling of motion when everything is stationary, the sort of music that makes you fly without moving and dance like nobody is watching you."

So what´s up with releases then? Well, the 5th studio-album from O.O.O.D., is still very fresh, being released as it was in November, 2012. It is an album presenting a lot of different styles and moods, not following a specific formula. My favourites are the opening track - K.A.R.R, the one titled Inner Inca, and also last track Eye of the Beholder, made together with Ott and remixed by Sonic Species is a real treat.

Even more recently, the 5track EP Compos Mentis was released just the other day. With music from artists such as Terrafractyl, Rye Smugglers and Whoop this compilation will most definitely twist and tweak your mind.

And finally, something to really look forward to is a new album from Trold! This duo from Stavenger, Norway has created their own unique style; very melodic, and energetic, but no less psychedelic and the production is usually high-class! Listening to the snippets from the new album Time For Solutions has already convinced me, that they Trold-guys are staying true to their style, and I´m awating this album with great anticipation!

So lots of goodies already here, and more coming up. I wish Vertigo Records all the best with future release. And while we´re at the subject. Be sure not to miss label-artist Yudhisthira playing at this summer´s Tangra Festival in Bulgaria, in June. It´s sure to be a psychedelic blast-off on the dancefloor!

Va - Full Moon

This is a beautiful chill-out compilation and is sure to bring many listeners lots of joyful experiences. It was released for free by Neurotrance Records so everyone can take part of these sounds without paying a single dime. Much thanks to everyone involved for making this happen. This track by Radioactive Sandwich was the one that stood out the most with a deep powerful vibe. Other great artists appearing are Ecometric, Erofex and Creotaur. So be sure not to miss out!

Yonagual - Journey To Ixtlan

A groovy minimal "Zenonsque" journey by one of the Zenon label Djs - Yonagual. His real name is Joona Hermansson and he is from Espoo, Finland. On his soundcloud there are many more mixes with similar style of music.

Yonagual, discovered psychedelic trance in 2008 and instantly developed a passion for it. He plays a deep, dancefloor-friendly progressive sound, fitting both nights and days alike. He is very active in the party scene in his home country, and has also performed in other countries around Europe and Russia. Joona is also the co-founder of the party organizing crew 7th Heaven Lab, bringing artists around the world to their events in Finland. His wish is "to travel far and wide to spread the music and ultimately hold the galaxy in a iron grip of everlasting grooviness". This summer he is playing at Tangra Eco Art Dance Festival in Bulgaria on June 20 -24th.

Goadream - Equinox 2012 TOUCH Samadhi

This mix for me, is a perfect example of a great late night/morning set. It contains wicked, crunchy twisted psytrance, with some more melodic touches. The entity behind the decks goes under the name Goadream, and it was recorded at the annual Touch Samadhi Equinox fall festival in 2012.

Jacob Goadream got into electronic music in the early 90’s when he attended some of the first warehouse parties in Houston, Texas. In 2000 he was introduced to the wonderful world of psy-trance through and when he there after moved to the Carolinas he discovered the T.O.U.C.H. Samadhi Collective. "Their truly magical gatherings at Deerfields throughly split [my] third eye wide open with a psychedelic hammer!"

Dreamstalker - Digital Illusions

Dreamstalker is Nikita Stalker from Crimea, which is an autonomous republic within Ukraine. Early 2012, he released his first album called "Eclectronica" for free through Ektoplazm and it received very good feedback. This, his second album - Digital Illusions was released digitally on Altar Records in December 2012.

This album came as a surprise for me since I never heard about the artist before, but it was a pleasant surprise. I found it to be the perfect mix of downbeat and more floaty chill. It is very moody and spreads a very nice vibe; it is melodic, well produced and dreamy. For me it is for sure one of the best chill-albums to be released in a long time.

Nukleall - Wormholes Activation

Melodic mellow morning-psychedelics. Give me sunrise/early morning on a packed festival-dancefloor and a beer in my hand. Damn dark season with pissing rain and cold and shit. Anyway. This is good shit!

This song appears on the album by Nukleall called "Hundreds of Years into the Future", and it was released on Blacklite Records in November last year. So it is still pretty new and I don´t think it has gotten the attention it deserves. It is a well-crafted album, very well produced and the more you listen to it, the more it sticks. I hope to catch Nukleall live very soon. It would be such an experience, I´m sure.

Nukleall is Ale Mistretta from Turin, Italy. He also manages Blacklite Records as well as being the sound engineer for Blacklite Studio. His first contact with psytrance came when visiting London for the first time in 1996. He started DJing in 2001 and music production in 2006. He is also working with other artists on 4 different psytrance projects: Junesix, Ghost Signal, Barkode and Rack Riders. Tracks by them have been released by several international music labels nowadays. Nukleall's style can be defined as morning psytrance music with a fat and groovy dancing vein, tightly balanced with a strong psychedelic atmosphere. Va - Druids Gathering

This compilation was released in September by Liquid Tune records. It is full with lovely dark and forest music with artists contributing from many parts of the world and available for free here. It was compiled by Therange Freak, mastered by Petran and the cover is made by Shiva3. The latter´s track is one my favorites of this release.


If you like this track, Shiva3 has recently released a full-length album on Space Baby Records called Full Story. I am sure it is worth while to check out. Other excellent tracks on Druid Gathering are the contributions by Gorm, Therange Freak, Paganopath and Fractal Error. I am sure many forest-freaks out-here will love this compilation, I know I do =)
