Oikeusjyvä is the alias of Jukka
Surakka from Vantaa, Finland, having been written electronic
music since the late nineties. His sound is inspired by different genres from trance to ambient, and sometimes even dubby down tempo, jungle, etc. He likes to create "bad ass melodies with nice harmonic
touch, aggressive bass lines and powerful drums that will make your legs move
like boiled spaghetti on the dance floor".
So far he has played around Brasil, Finland, Israel, Japan, Russia and Ukraine. Oikeusjyvä has released tracks on Hippie Killer Productions, Adama
Records, Random Records and Space Baby Records. He has also released Mp3
format EP albums for download on famous Finnish psytrance label
Antiscarp Records and extreme underground freeformtrance netlabel Riitta
Records. His debut album 'Oikeusjyvä - Huomentally Unsane' was released on January 2011 at Hippie Killer Productions.
On his soundcloud you can get complete access to a number of his songs as well as hear snippets of others. My favouries are Ny On Sun Aikas - crazy freeform reminding me of the early sound from Austrian label Psy-Harmonics, In The End - great chill with nice rhytms and Was A Bee - really nice melodic, twisted psy-trance. What really stands out in OJ:s music is solid production and his ability to be creative in everything he does, presenting own fresh ideas. I hope we get to hear more from this guy.
